The International Coal Centre Blackwater is an iconic visitor and community centre based in the heart of the Central Highlands Queensland region. The centre is home to the Australian Coal Mining Museum, Blackwater Cinema, BMA Expo Conference Hall and function rooms, The Coal Cafe, and the award-winning Timeless and Japanese Gardens.

Take some time out and explore the Museum, Gardens and have a bite to eat at The Coal Cafe. Or stay a little longer and experience one of our unique mine tours at one of Blackwater’s operating Coal mines. Whilst visiting the centre you can top up on tourist information and get local knowledge from our friendly staff about great camping locations and things to see and do in the area. With great souvenirs and local arts and crafts on display you can also get some great gifts for the family back home!

The Blackwater International Coal Centre is located right on the Capricorn Highway, just look out for our BIG red dragline buckets. We are approximately 2 hours drive east of Rockhampton and 50 minutes west of Emerald. With free on-site Caravan parking, clean amenities, and information centre you can be assured a hassle free stop welcomed with a friendly smile.
